A gastroscopy is covered by your private insurance if it is a diagnostic procedure recommended by a healthcare provider. Gastroscopy screenings for preventative reasons that are not formally recommended by a doctor may not be covered under your private insurance.
Medisave can be used to pay for a gastroscopy in Singapore although the coverage may vary. While the amount claimable may differ depending on the withdrawal limits set by the CPF Board, you will be able to use your Medisave to cover a portion of your gastroscopy or endoscopic investigation.
For a detailed cost breakdown and the claimables for your gastroscopy, consider approaching our clinic staff at G&L Surgical Clinic and we will be glad to assist you further.
Cashless eligibility refers to the option of zero out-of-pocket fees to be paid upon your procedure and hospitalisation. Your eligibility is subjected to change and may vary depending on the individual’s Insurance Policy, CPF Claimables (where Medisave applies) and the procedure’s Table Code.
Please contact and check with your insurer on your insurance policies. After that, simply inform our staff of the insurance details to determine if you are eligible for cashless eligibility.
G&L Surgical is here to help you check on your eligibility for a seamless and stress-free treatment, WHATSAPP or call us at +65 9088 8313 to find out more.
The Integrated Shield Plan allows Singaporeans to obtain additional coverage on top of what is offered by Medishield Life for private healthcare. Suppose you have purchased a hospital plan rider from your insurer, which covers the cost of the deductible along with co-insurance.
In that case, you may be eligible for a cashless procedure during your hospitalisation. If you are unsure of your eligibility for a cashless procedure, contact us or speak to your insurer to find out more.

Start by scheduling an appointment with our doctor, Dr Ganesh Ramalingam. He will assess your symptoms or risk factors and determine if a gastroscopy is medically necessary.
Some insurance policies may require a referral from your primary care doctor to see a specialist and get the procedure covered. Check with your insurance if this is needed.
Once the procedure is deemed necessary, G&L Surgical will submit a pre-authorization request to your insurance company. The request typically includes the medical justification for the procedure (e.g., family history, symptoms like bleeding, etc.).
Ensure that the procedure is covered under your plan. Coverage may depend on whether the gastroscopy is diagnostic or preventive. Preventive gastroscopies for individuals over a certain age are often fully covered.
Even if the procedure is covered, check your insurance plan for any co-pays, deductibles, or out-of-pocket expenses that may apply.
After the gastroscopy is done, G&L Surgical will submit the claim to your insurance provider.
Dr Ganesh at G & L Surgical Clinic strives to prioritise his patients’ recovery and comfort. Having had many years of experience in performing gastroscopies for numerous patients for many years in Singapore.
